On August 31, 1925 WELDON ROSS McILMOYL was born in Apsley, Ontario, son of ROSE McKAY McILMOYL. Weldon was born and raised in Apsley and at age 17 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy where he served for almost 4 years. In May 1949 Weldon married DOREEN AGNES HALES, living their entire married lives in Apsley. After returning from his service in the Navy, Weldon opened a store and marina on Jacks Lake. He also drove truck over the years and for 40 years managed the Legion in Apsley. On August 27, 1995 Doreen passed away; Weldon continued to live in their home.

Weldon was a private individual who loved time spent with his family, especially at the cottage on Chandos Lake. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and keeping the woodpile stocked. Together with Doreen he went on many driving trips out west to visit family and to the United States. The life and work of his church had always been important to Weldon and for over 30 years he served on the St. George's Cemetery Board. He was also active in the Legion and had server as Treasurer. In later years he discovered computers and enjoyed playing internet checkers and checking his email. Friends and family will remember his kind and generous nature, sense of humour and quick wit. On August 7, 2006 Weldon passed away at Peterborough Regional Helath Centre where he had been hospitalized for the previous two weeks. He had battled cancer for five years.

Survived by his children LYNNE, IRIS (TERRY POST), DONNA (PETER MURRAY), RUTH ANNE (GARY HANSEN), HEATHER (MICHAEL ROZINSHIS) & DAVID (SHELLEY); and grandchildren RUSSELL & RYAN ROZINSKIS & SYDNEY McILMOYL. Also missed by his sister IRENE McFADDEN; brother-in-law BOB HALES (FAYE); sister-in-law NORMA SAWCHYN; nephew WAYNE (TERRY) DANIELS, MARK HALES, BRIAN (TERESA) HALES; nieces ANDREA (BILL) TUCKER & YVONNE (KENNETH) HAMILIN; and dear friend PENNY CRAIG; Predeceased by his parents ROSE & BERT McILMOYL; and his son ROSS.
